Overview:

MASCOTS will hold its 16th annual international meeting in the Tremont Plaza Hotel in Baltimore, Md. (USA).

We encourage researchers world-wide to submit both theoretical and practical results of significance which have not previously been published elsewhere. The conference proceedings for MASCOTS 2008 will be published by the IEEE Computer Society.

Invited, Plenary Speakers

Each year, in addition to submitted papers, we invite a number of special speakers who help to highlight some aspect of computing and telecommunications, as well as their numerous application domains. Two keynote addresses are planned.

Submission Dates & Procedures

Abstracts must be submitted by March 21, 2008.  Full paper submissions are due on April 1, 2008; this is a firm deadline.  Paper submissions may be up to 10 pages in length (including figures and references), formatted in two-column IEEE conference style with font size no less than 10 point.  Poster submissions should be no more than 2 pages long (single or double column), with font size no smaller than 10 point.  Details on the mechanics of submitting a paper or poster will be available at the paper submission site in mid-February.

Important Dates (Summary):

  • March 21, 2008 – Abstract Submission
  • April 1, 2008 – Paper Submission (firm, no extensions)
  • May 1, 2008 – Poster Submission
  • May 15, 2008 – Acceptance Notification
  • June 9, 2008 – Camera Ready Submission

Author Information:

  • Final Camera Ready MUST be submitted by June 9, 2008, using the conference paper management web page
  • At least one author for every paper MUST register for the conference with either a full registration or a student registration by June 9, 2008. Failure to do so will result in your paper being omitted from the proceedings.
  • Copyright Release Form must be faxed to phone number 443-778-0714 to the attention of Hank Alme by June 9, 2008. Hank also asks the each author send him an email (Henry.ALme@jhuapl.edu) after the fax has been completed.

For international delegates requiring a travel visa to enter the USA, the General Chairs can provide MASCOTS 2008 invitation letters, provided you have already registered for the conference.

Please contact Jacqueline Akinpelu (Jackie.Akinpelu at jhuapl.edu) or Douglas Schmidt (Douglas.Schmidt at jhuapl.edu) for details on what information is necessary for an invitation letter. We recommend that those needing invitation letters request them no later than July 1, in case there are unexpected delays in visa processing. Unfortunately, after the invitation letter has been sent, we can no longer offer a refund for cancellation of your registration.

MASCOTS 2008 is being held at the Baltimore’s Tremont Grand Hotel in downtown Baltimore, within walking distance of Baltimore’s bustling Inner Harbor and many popular Baltimore attractions. For more information on the Tremont Grand hotel, go to the Tremont Grand Hotel Web Site.
